Holiday Greetings

Hello sweet friends.  Today I'm sharing a card featuring one of the gorgeous images from our Winter Wonders collection.

This precious little cutie is Princess and you can find her over in the Funky Kits shop.  She's one of my favorite images from the Winter Wonders collection ... but I guess I say that about all of them, don't I?  I colored her with copics and colored pencils and then added some Glamour Dust to her crown, flower, and shoes.  I've simply added a bow and some pearls to finish off my clean and simple card.  Since this card will have to go in the mail I tried to keep the embellishments to a minimum and with such a lovely image, it should be the focal point of the card, right?

Thank you for stopping by for a visit.  I hope you have a wonderful day and are able to find some time to get your fingers inky :)

Hugs, Anita

Thank You...and Farewell...

Happy Wednesday, my sweet friends and fellow "sugar" lovers!! Pat Frank here once again. I am writing this post with mixed emotions. You see, I've made the very difficult decision to step down from Sugar Nellie's Design Team so that I can spend more time pursuing other expressions of art...including charcoal and watercolor portraiture.

And, since I'm going to spend more time on my art career, I thought it would be fun to share a card I created and posted last year using one of my favorite Sugar Nellie stamps!

*********
This is one of Krista Smith's "Simply Sassy" images created exclusively for Sugar Nellie. Her name is, "Artistic Goddess" . . . and I do believe she was my very FIRST "Simply Sassy" stamp. I just love her facial expression . . . and funky specs! And, ohhhh, that hair! What fun!! "Artistic Goddess" is available HERE at Funky Kits.

I colored this cutie with the following Copics:
Skin: E21, 00, 000, 0000
Cheeks: R30 & R20
Hair: E25, 23, 21, 50, 15, YR21 & 20
Eyes: G46, 43, 40
Purples: V28, 25, 22, 20, 000
Peachy pinks: R22, 20, 00, 000

Here's a bit of a side view . . .
I had to laugh . . . I showed my husband this card and, of course, he told me he liked it! (He's so good like that! hehehe!) Then he said, "I hope the theme isn't 'Clean & Simple', cuz if it is, you're in big trouble!" I tell ya, I was ROTFL!

My card "recipe" . . .
Creamy Caramel, Black, & Very Vanilla cardstock: Stampin' up
DPs: "Almanac Collection" by Prima
Lace, feathers, pearls, buttons, flower, Scrabble tiles, & twine: My stash
Film, hangers, & "clock die: Tim Holtz
Butterfly medallions: Bo Bunny
Mini Clips: Stampin' Up
Sentiment: Stampers Anonymous
Artist stamp (inside): 100 Proof Press
Wonky Rectangle Nesties: Spellbinders
and a few colored pencils on top of my Copics

. . . a peek at the inside . . .
And a closeup of that hilarious sentiment! I must admit, I can't disagree with it at all! LOL!
And, finally . . .

I am so very thankful to Karen & Gayle and all of my friends here at Sugar Nellie for giving me the opportunity to hang out with them and all of my talented DT sisters...and to play with some of the sweeeeetest "rubber" and digis out there!

So...that's it for me, kiddos! Thanks so much for stopping by to take a peek at my last Sugar Nellie DT card! Sending best wishes and big hugs...today and always!

Saturday Shenanigans!

Happy Saturday Everyone!

It is truly autumnal here, in my little part of Scotland, at the moment...

The temperature has turned rather nippy, and daylight is in short supply, especially when it's raining which it has been 'A LOT'.

So I think it's time to stay indoors and get a little crafty.....I do try to do something, of a crafty nature, with my girls at the weekend however, at least one weekend per year, this becomes my husbands domain!

Let the pumpkin carving begin!

My girls faces lit up yesterday, when they came home from school to find this years pumpkins had arrived!

So they are a little anxious to get started....

Here are 2011's pumpkins...

These are last years.....

As you see, we always have our little witch, as she's our favourite!

So, what will it be this year?

The internet is, of course, a marvellous way to lose entire days looking for inspiration!

Top of my list for this year is this one....

Yes, in this house, 2013 was the year of Despicable Me 2 and The Minions in particular!

But, for those who don't feel the need to mess about with knives (the sensible people) I thought this was a great idea...

Some buttons, some ribbon and some glue = very effective!

This time of the year, in my neck of the woods, also brings the Hobbycrafts Show at the SECC in Glasgow.

Unfortunately, I will not be going this year but, I very much look forward to seeing everyone's purchases and for those who haven't been yet, don't buy everything you see...

Something I am very guilty of!

Anyhoo, whatever you're doing...

Enjoy your weekend!

Luv'n'Hugs

Pippi Longsocks

Hello, Lisa here with my card for this week...

I've used Pippi Longsocks for today's card, because she's fabulous and I haven't coloured her for a little while... she's lovely and girlie, but with just that little bit of attitude, love her!

You can find Pippi at Funky Kits here.

Thanks for popping in, hope you have a lovely day :o)

Furry Friends

Hello sweet friends!  The card I'm sharing today features one of the very first Sugar Nellie stamps I bought ...

I fell in love with this image the very first time I saw it and I still love it today!  I think it's such a precious image, with that sweet little girl sitting on the polar bear's back.  Oh, so cute!  I colored them with copics and colored pencils and used lots of Glamour Dust on the snow-covered ground and her outfit.  I also added some pearl dots around the image with my Pearl Pen.  The little trees are from a new Impression Obsession die, as are the snowflakes.  You can find this sweet image over at Funky Kits.

Thank you so much for stopping by for a visit today.  I hope I've inspired you to pull out your Sugar Nellie stamps and get inky!

Hugs, Anita

Strolling Down "Memory Lane"...

Hello there, m'darlings!! Pat Frank here again!! Soooo...I decided that this week I'd re-post my very first project as a Sugar Nellie Designer. This actually appeared on my blog on September 26, 2011! I had fun "reliving" the making and posting of this card! I hope you enjoy!

*********
Hey sweet friends! Welcome to the Land of Sugar! No, not because I'm so sweeeeet (although I am pretty sweet, that's true!), but because today is my very FIRST post as a Designer on Sugar Nellie's Blog!! Whoohooo!! Can ya tell...I'm a little excited?!!  (And just a bit nervous to be joining the ranks of such an amaaaazing team of talented and fun ladies!!) Soooo...for my "debut" card, I decided to ink up a new stamp called "Posy Pip" (you are soooo gonna love her!!)...

"Posy" is one of the newest "Sherbet Pips"...from the Home Grown Collection of Sugar Nellie stamps. You can find Posy and her friends (along with all kinds of Sugar Nellie deliciousness) at Funky Kits. I decided to showcase this little darlin' with one of my fave "twisted easel" style cards. You can find a great "Twisted Easel Card" tutorial by the very creative Pam Sparks HERE.

Now...I have to admit...I know less than NOTHING about flowers (except I know what a rose looks like!)...so...is Posy Pip here is supposed to be holding a potted posy? Well...not today!! Today, little Miss Posy is holding a potted SUNFLOWER!! Yep...we call that "artistic license" where I come from! hehehehe!! And since I made the flower a sunflower, I was able to use some fun Flower Soft (I believe the color is called "Nut Brown") in the center!! Kinda cute, huh? Ya can't do THAT with a posy, now, can ya? Oh, wait...maybe you can...beats me! I don't know a thing about flowers, rememba?! ROTFL! (I crack myself up!) Here's one more photo...this one is a wee bit of an "artsy" angle...

Here's my card "recipe"...
  • Copics & Prismacolor pencils (I used so many, I lost track...sorry)
  • Very Vanilla, Crumb Cake, Baja Breeze, & Not Quite Navy Cardstock from Stampin' Up
  • DPs & Baja Breeze seam binding (SU)
  • Sentiment is from Whimsy Stamps
  • Pearls are from my every growing "stash"
  • Lace and those delicious flowers (they're roses...see, I know the names of some flowers!) are from Wild Orchids Crafts...
Oh...and those faaaaabulous dies are made by Memory Box.

Okey dokey...that's it for me, my lovelies. Thanks so much for stopping by to visit! I'll see you again next week! Until then...big hugs!

Little Helpers...

Good morning everyone its my pleasure to show you some sugary goodness today...did you know that Santa shouldn't really be red suited...he was originally green or blue depending on which country you were in and the red Santa we all know and love is an invention of a well know soft drinks company (holidays are coming lol)...so I chose to colour this gorgeous Little Helpers digi in green...I think it suits him don't you...all the details of colours, papers etc are on my blog as always...thanks for stopping by today and wherever you are I hope your weather is better than ours

Saturday Shenanigans!

Happy Saturday Everyone!

So, my 'Countdown to Christmas' phone app tells me, there are only 67 sleeps until Christmas!

Aaaaaarrrrrrggggggghhhhhhh!

And, in my own case, not even a solitary Christmas card made yet!

( hangs head in shame)

However, I have noticed a growing trend, this year, towards, buying local and handmade.

Or, better still, making your own Christmas gifts?

The past couple of years, I have sent food gifts but, this year, I'd like to try something a little different.

Pinterest has a lot to answer for on this front....

The hours I spend salivating over the things other people make, just lead me to procrastinating, when I should be 'doing'!

My current obsessions are 'felt decorations'  like these gorgeous little things....

(why is it I become a little obsessed by gingerbread and gingerbread houses around Christmas time?)

So...what are your plans for Christmas gifts this year?

Buying local?

Buying handmade?

 Or making your own?

If you're planning on making your own...what are you making?

I'm hungry for inspiration!

Feed me.....lol

Whatever your making today....

Enjoy your weekend!

Luv'n'Hugs

SOS- craft fairs

It's craft fair season and I am sure the discovery of pinterst will mean a wider choice of vendors and ideas. I have one Christmas fair to attend as a vendor this year, the first weekend in November I will be helping Katie out at the Christmas Craft @ gift fair at Thainstone Inverurie.

But having a browse around pinterst I found these cute projects...

http://marthamoments.blogspot.co.uk/2012/06/two-fathers-day-fabric-crafts.html

Or how about using your big shot and dies to cut felt.

Or recycle those jars that can't be thrown away.

Sweeties always a hit at craft shows.

 These images from google.

There are so many ideas, most very achievable if you set you mind to it,
but sadly the two fairs I went shopping at this weekend were not all inspiring, amazing shopping events.

I may have to travel further afield to find what I like.

I follow so many beautiful craft workers and show organisers that I see great things all the time. But these people
are few and far between, brought together on FB or Etsy. It makes craft shopping so much easy.

I would love nothing better than a day out at an amazing collective of quality, original and exciting craft show.
I love meeting the makers, seeing their pretty displays, nothing is better than buying in person.

Let me know about your local show, where in the world is it and what golden gems have you found.
Or if you are attending, share a link to your etsy shop or FB page, I would love to see what you make. 100%
Of my pocket money goes on pretty thing, many are hand made, from all over the world.
( it's handy having a postal address in the USA).

This week see the last week of the pop up shop in Forres- FB 44highst

Looking out for new artwork which once agin is very very late,
I thought working with agents would make my job easier, not!

And a wee trip down to the central belt next weekend :)

Have a crafty weekend
Hugs
Karen

Fifi Goes Shopping

Hello everyone, Lisa here with my card for this week...

I've used the fabulous Fifi Goes Shopping today... and I've just realised I meant to add a pearl for the button on her jacket, so I might replace this photo later!  I think she's great for girlie Christmas cards and for winter birthdays too.

More photos and details over on my blog here.

Hope you all have a lovely day :o)

Friends To The End

Hello sweet friends.  Today I'm sharing a card I made for a dear friend.  Just a little card to let her know that I'm thinking of her.

This sweet image is Dolly Pip and isn't she a cutie?  You can find her over at Funky Kits with all the other adorable Pips.  I colored her with my copics and colored pencils.  I used a doily and some ribbon and then fussy cut her so that she looks like she's sitting on the ribbon.  I added a few punched flowers with pearls and then tied on a little sentiment tag.

Thank you so much for stopping by.  I hope you have a chance to get your fingers inky today!

SOS- To believe

As a girl Sunday was a day off for adults, shops were closed, relatives visited and some people went to church. If I was staying over at said relatives, sisters of my Granny who died when I was very young. I would sometimes be taken along to church. It's what that generation did.

Move forward 20 years and my mother in law was very much part of our small local church, once again I found myself "encouraged" to join in. As the years have rolled on, our church opens once a month and very few attend. Times are very much changing, the attendance at church is dwindling older generation, it faces the same hurdles as retail in a way, changing time a new technical generation. That is another story for another day.

But there are places in the world where Sunday is still the day for church, be it in a mud hut or a grand building, the bottom line is the same.

Having found this today on my FB feed, I would like to share it with you. not because I am particularity religious but because its pure and beautiful .

This should be our Christmas song, not some rock pop commercially promoted money making tune. I am sure if you take the time to follow this link, it might be the first time you see this girl but it will not be the last. The Internet has the power to do good too.

Enjoy and watch all the way to the end.

Penguin Party!!

Hello there, "sugar" lovers! Pat Frank here again with a fun new project to share with you!! So...here's the thing...we have fewer than 80 days before Christmas Day!! What?! Well...with that in mind, I've decided to slip into full "Christmas mode" and make a Christmas Tree decoration!

This week's project features a sweet little Sugar Nellie digi image from the "Home Grown Digital Collection" called "Penguin Party." It's available HERE at Funky Kits!

I purchased a little metal Christmas ornament intended for inserting a photo. So, instead of using a photograph, I simply printed a teeny tiny copy of this sweet little Sugar Nellie digi image...colored it with Copics & Colored Pencils...added some Liquid Applique...and added some Flower Soft "snow" and pearls...and voila!! If you'd like to see another picture of this project, pop on over to my blog HERE!

I Believe I see spots...

Good morning everyone, I hope your having a good week...before I tell you about my card for today I want to answer a question I got about the scissors I use and showed on here last week, Edna asked about what size and where to get the tiny curved scissors I use, the size is set as they are Pergamano's own make and are used for tiny cutting on pergamano (I have never done the method though), I would stick with their own make as they are good quality and Ebay is always a good source for them, I bought mine from a local craft store close to home, I hope that helps Edna...right now onto my card for today which is using one of my all time favourite versatile stamps from Diane Duda, shes called Believe, I think one of the reason I like this stamp is that she can be used for any occasion at all...this time I used her for a monochrome card with lots of glitter...I coloured her very softly with my distress inks and all the details of colours, papers etc are on my blog if you would like to pop by...if anyone need any other questions answered please just leave a comment and I will do my best to answer you...have a fantastic day whatever you are up too today
