Saturday catch up

Good morning sugar addicts. I hope this week has been kind to you and a little Rest and relaxation is planned for this weekend.

Myself and the DT are excited to be welcoming some new faces to the Sugar Nellie Family very soon.
The Kit & Clowder competition closes this weekend and we will not only be giving away a class but also a guest DT spot.

Fiona is also bringing back the Sweeties, they are selection of sugar addicts carefully chosen to take part and promote our monthly challenge.  With only one card a month required, the store discount given to sweeties is a very sweet incentive. But the love of our stamps is always first and foremost.

At the start of the year I had a few different project on my desk. Mainly working together with our small business in the craft world. Firstly there was Scrapberry which brought delightful images in clear format at fantastic prices. ( there are more to come soon).

Next we hope to have the new Sugar Nellie Toppers from Hobby House, were are just waiting for Jill to run these off so we can see what a great job her team have made of colouring these up.

Lastly, I received an email out of the blue from a lady who's digital art I had admired. Working in digital, rubber is a completely different costing and required more time and work to produce. Sugar Nellie has never been one for fancy packaging, it's all about the quality of art for us. After all I would rather spend money on great art than fancy packaging. Look at the prices we can retail at compared to others this becomes clear . I also choose real rubber for the sharpest , cleanest image.

I may not think it but I have learnt an lot in the last 8 years. I know that I have guided many others within the stamp world but yet do not see my self as a professional within this industry. I have not worked as hard as I could and not as hard as many others who have done great things, made big contracts and grown their business at a fast rate. When I started Sugar Nellie I think we ran off 20 of each stamp. At our peek we ran off 300 each. Now we have been take over by digital and find that it is a limited niche market for rubber.  So I was delighted that we have been asked to make some new images in rubber which will also be available as digital. This is going to be great fun, especially when we can bring the two DT together to promote these new images.

YOU WILL LOVE THEM

But for today it's back to our competition . Here are the entries received from Andrea @
http://craftingandy.blogspot.co.uk who has always been a great support from the early days and is guilty of spoiling us with hand made sugary goodness. Her love of our Scottish stamps has give her three entries!

Thank you Andrea and all the girls who have entered. Good luck to you all.

For everyone else, have a great weekend and I will be back next week with the results.
Karen

Gift Wrapping..

Hi Sugar Fans..

Christine here today.... to share my card with you.

I've used this gorgeous little fairy digi image... she's called 'Gift Wrapping' and is available from Funky Kits here.

I chose to colour her in blues using my copics to match the paper (from LOTV).  As I wasn't using a die to cut the square, I thought a bit of doodling my help to define the edge... and added a few pearl dots with Cosmic Shimmer Glue around the white space too.

As I didn't have any plain card in the right colour to edge the card and image, I used my copic deeper blue to colour just the edge of a pale blue card.. a handy tip as I got EXACTLY the right colour by doing it that way.

The sentiment is from Poppy Stamps... and the die is a Memory Box Gabriella border die.

Don't forget you still have time to enter our Furry Friends competition.... details HERE.

Thanks for looking today and do make sure to pop back tomorrow to see another lovely Sugar Nellie creation!

Picket Post Lane...

- Good morning Sugar Peeps -
It's Thursday and my turn to share my bit of sugary heaven.
I thought for this week I'd use another one of our new 'Furry Friends' digi stamps, I can't help myself I just think they're really cute.  This gorgeous stamp is called 'Picket Post Lane' and it's available from Funkykits in digital format. I know some of the DT have already made some wonderful cards using this cutie, but I thought I would be different and make a piece of home décor.

I bought an 8" x 10" inexpensive frame from a local discount store, and simply printed out a large copy of  the image onto watercolour card making sure it fit inside the frame and the mount area. I used distressing pens and inks to colour the image, but to add a little more depth I also used a few pencils. To finish it off I added a little glitter to the parcels and envelope.
For more details of everything I used check my blog HERE

Don't forget about our 'Furry Friends' competition - we're offering a fabulous prize of a Kit & Clowder colouring class to the winner.
So come on and get entering, all the details can be found on the 'Competition' tab at the top of the page.
Thank you for dropping by - don't forget to call by tomorrow for more sweet inspiration.

SOS

Good morning everyone, I hope this week has been peaceful for you.
Not so much here in the NE Scotland with floods again proving once again that no one can control the weather.
But a little sunshine in the week came in the form of an email from a stamp company that I have been admiring for a while.mi am a terrible stamp snob and rarely does art catch my eye. But these did and I am delight to pre warn you that Sugar a Nellie have struck up a new partnership that will bring you a small range of both rubber and digital stamps from a popular UK company.
Bet that's got you thinking!

For now all I have left to say to you today is
COMPETITION
Come on girls, I know your sitting on those new FURRY FRIENDS digital stamps! put them to good use and make a card which could win you a great prize. The odds are in your favour!

It amazing to see the before and after picture of those doing the Ktt & Clowder classes.
No need to save up for a class, we are giving away one class of your choice to the winner of our competition. You have to be in it to win it.
Have a great weekend
Karen

Good morning Sugar fans, it's Fi here with your Saturday post!

For todays card I have used Pippi...she was feeling a bit neglected and I coloured her with spectrums and shaded with come polychromos.  The papers are digi papers from the Sweet Shoppe and I just love these ones they are called Life Is.  I layered the papers onto card and doodled the edges.  I added some wee pearls to the corners and finished with a bow and acrylic flower....I actually bought that little flower on my visit up to Elgin to the Paper Boutique.

Gift Wrapped

Hello, Lisa here with my card for this week...

I've used one of the new Furry Friends digi stamps... they're all so cute, it's hard to choose which ones to colour first!  They're very versatile, and work equally well for male or female cards... so I made a male one, as I'm one of those strange crafters who actually likes making them lol.

This little cutie is called Gift Wrapped, and you can find him HERE at Funky Kits.

Thanks for popping in, hope you have a lovely day.

Gift Wrapped (in pink of course...)

Hi All

Christine here today... with my DT card using the gorgeously cute Gift Wrapped from our fabulous Furry Friends collection of digi images at Funky Kits..

I coloured him with Copics.. and of course, knowing my tendency towards all things pink - he just had to be holding a pink gift... yes??!

I kept him relatively CAS - but if you'd like to see more details - pop over to my blog here for a list of what I used.

Thanks for dropping in - hope you have a lovely day!

Big hugs

Wednesday stand in

Hello folks
It's not even the weekend and you have to read my babble.
But things are being shaken up a bit this week, you'll get Fiona on Saturday.

If you are in the UK you know that Scotland once again was hit by floods,  yes we are right bang in the middle of it all! Flip flops were exchanged for winter boots and my feet ached after only a day.

So with the crafting weather coming early, the shop was busier than I expected. Christmas stock is slowly arriving but nothing ground breaking. Lots of pretty papers and a few new Christmas stamps but the best of the rest we have ear marked for classes.

One more show this week, tomorrow we will all go to The Grantown Show. It's Megan's 12Th birthday so she's not delighted with the planned day out. Mini farmer will hope to once more move up the ranks of the judges. Fingers crossed he ends his first season on a high.

The faulty two digital stamps from Furry Friends, parachute jump & wrapped up have been re loaded and checked out.
There has been a rush of Gorjuss girls being sent to Brazil ? The selection gets smaller every week, the decision to buy up all the Personal Impression range when their licence expired, may have seen us with cupboards full of Gorjuss stamps but they are slowly going down and many have never been re licenced. We may even re run our original art from Suzanne as there are a good few we sold out of a long time ago. Or we could look are remaking them in clear. Once the school goes back on Tuesday, normality will resume.

On my desk soon will be more Furry Friends, some new art from our County Cousin artist and a new partnership with a UK stamps company. There is so much up my sleave that my cuffs don't tie!
Thats all for me today, catch you on Sunday.
Take care
Karen

Mark your page...

Good Morning!

Hope you all had a fab weekend! We have had terrible rain here the last few days so hopefully this week will bring some dry and warm weather!

Today i have made something a little bit different. I have been reading a lot of books lately and i am always loosing my page so i have made myself a little magnetic bookmark. There are magnets inside so that the bookmark wont slide out my book when moving it around!

I have used "Words from the Heart" Furry Friends Digital Stamp.
You can buy him from the Funky Kits Store along with all his little furry Friends!

I have coloured this cutie with Promarkers and Polychromos Pencils. The paper is one from "Be Mine" from Echo Park backed onto black card stock. I then used a little black ribbon to dangle down the outside of my book when closed.
The magnets are inside.

Here are the magnets inside that will stop your bookmark falling out your book when moved around!

Remember that the competition is still running through-out this month over on the Sugar Nellie Blog HERE!
The prize is a colouring class from Kit and Clowder!!

Thanks for stopping by! Fi will be here tomorrow with some more inspiration!

SOS looking ahead

As we are still in the honeymoon period with the Furry Friends, it's hard to think what's next.

We still have part 2 of Furry Friends, and we have other art work ordered since Febuary!
And there is something new on the horizon.
Those who have peaked at these loved the floral version
but those actually coloured them loved the oriental ones.
The quote was " a dream to colour".

But I have nothing seasonal for you yet. Last years Christmas digital stamps are selling well, many of you have started and I think it will be hard to come up with better art this year, but I'll try.

I keep banging on about the competition, you have to be in it to win it and these classes are amazing. I love to see the vast improvement in colouring skills, a must for any serious crafter.
All you have to do it follow the rules and enter your creation befor the end of the month.
I am going to change the Linky to show a thumbnail picture and keep the voting button.

Have a peaceful Sunday.
Karen

What a week!

Its been some week, lots of things crossed off the long list of things needing done.

I am delighted with the launch of Furry Friends, our design team have done as steller job of show casing those images. Always fantastic quality work from the girls, I get amazing support from them and
could not to it with them. Thank you girls!

And of course you, our lovely loyal customers, there would be no point of any new stamp if you did not love them too. I am looking forward to seeing all your creation for the competition.

Both my daughters were at weddings this weekend, Aberdeen and Chicargo, I hope they both had a lovely time.

After two years laying empty, the Glasgow flat was put on the market.
Katie sold her car.
My patio was finished bring on the BBQ weather.
harvest started, but  happy farmer knows that there is bad weather coming ( that's because the patios ready)
Work to repair my bathroom floor may see the room getting total re furnished, good bye old bath tub.
We attended the Black Isle show, my son James 15 , has just this year taken the reigns, or should that be halter, and prepared a young calf for showing. He was happy with this show, getting placed better than the last and there is one more show to go this summer.

It was hard to leave the farm on Thursday to attend the Black Isle because the farm dog had puppies! Four when we left and an extra one when we got home. Five collie pups. Megan will be 12 next week and she is absolutely over the moon. The poor mum does not get any peace but she is taking it well.

With all this going on, I did very few hours at work. I could not fix the problem with the two digital stamps while in the office Monday, that is my priority this week.

I took a big step too this week and put an offer in for a new business, my friends are having fun at my expense already, but I feel calm, confident and full of idea's on what could be done. More on this later as the legals have not been finalised but my brain is busy busy busy.

**************

I was disappointed to hear the Stampavie have closed their doors. I remember when it started,( I remember it head hunting Rachel Anne Miller from me.) And yet for all that, this big French company who took Sarah Kaye Stamps to us all,  are going to be missed.
On discussing this with other stamp companies , the most important statement said, was...

"Digital has killed off rubber and sharing will kill off digital"
I believe this to be true. I know it's happening, in one country more than the others. Crafters are noted for using images they did not buy, some have even been known to enter into DT calls with stolen images!

**************
I hope you all have a peaceful weekend. let me see your cards as soon as your done. The competition is open for the month of August, you have time to make more than one.
Take care
Karen

Words From The Heart ---

---- Good morning Sugar fans ----

Well it's Thursday, and my day to share a crafty creation with you!

So today, to continue our 'Furry Friends' theme I've created another card full of furry sweetness. This little cutie is called 'Words from the heart' and it's available from Funkykits in digital format.

I printed my digi stamp straight onto some Kraft card and added a little message, both of which I coloured with pencils.  The finished picture was then matted and layered it onto coloured cardstock. To finish off I added a little faux stitching around the edge and a few tiny embellishments.

For more info of all the things I've used to make my card, why not visit my blog here.

It's Christine's turn next week - so see you in 2 weeks.
